Betty J. Simons, 79, of Slater, died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at Boone Hospital in Columbia.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 16, in Eldon. Rev. Martin Hoyer officiated. Music included "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art." Pallbearers were Rocky Mancell, Kevin Wood, Josh Wood, Adam Yamry, Ken Rhoades and Clyde Riley Jr. Burial was in Greenmore Memorial Gardens in Barnett. Arrangements were under the care of Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon. Memorials are suggested to Daughters of the American Revolution or the American Cancer Society.
Born Aug. 23, 1925, in Waynesville, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Gilbert and Hazel Marie Jones Foust. On July 3, 1955, in Eldon, she married Kenneth Simons, who preceded her in death. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Eldon. She had retired from her own upholstery shop and was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include one son, Thomas Jones of Seymour; one daughter, Linda Mancell of Slater; one brother, Raymond Foust of the state of Mississippi; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Burnett.
