Erna C. Steinkuhler, 93, of rural Sweet Springs, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at Lutheran Nursing Home in Concordia.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 20, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs. Rev. Douglas Dubisar will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tim Clemens, Tyler Clemens, Joe Steinkuhler, Jonathan Ballenger, David Soetaert and John Harvey. Honorary pallbearers will be Kris Soetaert, Amber Ballenger, Jae Steinkuhler, Korey Pryer, Breinne Clemens, Junior Henley and Doug Messer. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church broadcast or the I-70 Medical Center.
Born June 9, 1911, in Emma, she was the daughter of the late August Bodenstab and Friederike Fischer Bodenstab. On March 14, 1937, in Sweet Springs, she married Melvin C. Steinkuhler, who survives of the home. She lived her entire married life in Sweet Springs and was head of housekeeping at the former Community Hospital in Sweet Springs for nearly 20 years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Betty Clemens of rural Marshall; one son, Jerry Steinkuhler of rural Concordia; two sisters, Irma M. Heins of Concordia and Selma Oetting of Concordia; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Myrna Loy Steinkuhler; three brothers, Henry Bodenstab, Paul Bodenstab and Arthur Bodenstab; and two sisters, twin sister Edna Bodenstab and Willemina Bodenstab.
