Dorothy I. McElfresh, 92, of Marshall, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 20, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. William W. Harlow will officiate. Pallbearers will be Dale Swift, David Umana, Mike McKay and Carl Johnson. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to Child Safe of Central Missouri.

Born June 24, 1912, in Slater, she was the daughter of the late James Hicks and Bessie Webb Hicks. On May 18, 1934, in Marshall, she married H. Gay McElfresh, who preceded her in death April 11, 1999. She had lived in Marshall most of her life and was a homemaker. She was a member of First Christian Church, Elms Grove Club, Violet Club and Quilting Club.

Survivors include one daughter, Joan Lee of the home; two sisters, Catherine Scharnhorst of Kansas City and Doris Laxson of Kansas City; one brother, Vernon "Pappy" Hicks of Marshall; two grandchildren, Sherri Bond of Sedalia and Jeff Lee of Oakhurst, Calif.; three great-grandchildren, Kellie and Corey Bond of Sedalia and Devin Lee of Oakhurst, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Duane McElfresh; one sister, Lillian O'Donnell; and one brother, John Hicks.
