Linda Kay Stout, 60, of Sylvania, Ohio, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 9, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Rev. Mike Brown will officiate. Arrangements are in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to a memorial fund at Sylvania Area Federal Credit Union, 6613 Maplewood Ave., Sylvania, OH, 43560. Donations will provide scholarships to former Highland Elementary School students pursuing college degrees in education.
Born Sept. 6, 1944, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late David F. and Marchess Neff Stout. She was a 1962 graduate of Sylvania High School and a 1966 graduate of Ohio State University School of Education. She received her master's of education degree from Bowling Green State University in 1977, where she was named a Jennings' Scholar in 1989. She was a teacher at Highland Elementary School for 38 years, teaching fourth and fifth grades. She served as advisor to the school's Safety Patrol for years and served on numerous committees. She taught SIRI after school and during summers she gave presentations at the Mazza Institute at University of Findlay and OCTELA state conferences. She was an active member of International Reading Association, Delta Kappa Gamma and Alpha Chi Omega.
Survivors include one brother, David Stout of Ft. Myers, Fla.; two nephews and two nieces.
