Mayme Sims, 86, of rural Sweet Springs, died Monday, May 2, 2005, at University Hospital in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at First Christian Church in Sweet Springs. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church or the Saline County Fair Association.
Born July 8, 1918, in Saline County, she was the daughter of the late Henry C. Menegali and Flossie Lewis Menegali. On Jan. 28, 1939, she married Dewey B. Sims, who preceded her in death Aug. 20, 1983. She was a member of First Christian Church in Sweet Springs and lived in the Sweet Springs community most of her life. She was a homemaker, a member of the Cretcher Club and had been a 4-H leader.
Survivors include one daughter, Cookie Viets of rural Sweet Springs; two sons, Dewey Wayne Sims of rural Sweet Springs and Danny Sims of the home; one sister, Ruby Harper of Fontana, Kan.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Pansy Blakely and Jennie Atwood.
