Betty L. Coleman, 72, of Marshall, died Friday, April 22, 2005, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, at First United Methodist Church in Marshall. William W. Harlow and Rev. Dave Huck will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 25, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church in Marshall, Malta Bend United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
Born Feb. 12, 1933, in Miami, she was the daughter of the late Gussie Chevalier and Vessie Rose Chevalier. On May 19, 1951, she married Eugene "Bucky" Coleman, who survives of the home. She was a graduate of Malta Bend High School. She had lived in Saline County her entire life and was owner and operator of Boyd Street Cafe in Marshall for 30 years. She was a member of Malta Bend United Methodist Church, Marshall A.B.W.A. for many years, Malta Bend American Legion Auxilliary Post 558 and the Little Extension Club. She was also involved with Work-to-Win 4-H Club.
Additional survivors include four sons, Franklin Eugene Coleman and Alan Dale Coleman, both of Marshall, Mark Edward Coleman of Dallas, Texas, and David Eugene Coleman of Excelsior Springs; one daughter, Rhonda Jo King of Marshall; two brothers, James G. Chevalier of Marshall and JoDale Chevalier of Miami; two sisters, Dora Ellen Narron and Bonnie Boedeker, both of Marshall; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son in infancy, Sterling LeRoy Coleman; and four brothers.
