Viola Pauline McCorkle, 82, of Marshall, died Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at The Living Center in Marshall.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Rev. Vernon Maxted will officiate. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 15, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Millers Chapel Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Bethany Baptist Church or Millers Chapel Cemetery.

Born Feb. 2, 1923, in Cherryvale, Kan., she was the daughter of the late Otto Lefevers and Bessie Huff Lefevers. On Oct. 4, 1941, she married Philip Thorp McCorkle, who survives. She had lived in Saline County most of her life and was a homemaker. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and a former member of the Pettis County Extension Club.

Additional survivors include one daughter, Virginia Farr and husband Wayne of Marshall; two sons, David McCorkle and wife Ann of Holts Summit and Charles "Pete" McCorkle and wife Debbie of Marshall; two sisters, Ruby Seaton of Macks Creek and Betty Frederick of St. Joseph; 10 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.
