Clara L. Walker, 90, of Marshall, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at First United Methodist Church in Marshall. Rev. Dave Huck will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospital for Children, Children's Department of First United Methodist Church or Fitzgibbon Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Fund in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall.
Born July 18, 1914, in Aurora, Kan., she was the daughter of the late Clyde Van Fleet and Ethel Ming Van Fleet. On Oct. 9, 1938, she married Charles Albert Walker, who preceded her in death July 20, 1995. She returned to Marshall in 1989, moving from Kansas City, Kan. She was a retired bank teller from Brotherhood Bank in Kansas City, Kan., and a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, president of its United Methodist Women and a charter member of Keystone Sunday school class. She was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star, serving as past worthy matron; Daughters of the Nile; past president of League of Scottish Rite Women; Social Order of Beauceant; The Monday Club and Fitzgibbon Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include one son, Donald D. Walker of Lanexa, Va.; one brother, Julian Van Fleet of Bella Vista, Ark.; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Kay Walker; and three brothers, Merlin Van Fleet, Dean Van Fleet and one in infancy.
