Commission accepts audit bid, health insurance decision pending

The Saline County Commission met on Tuesday morning for a short session and accepted the audit bid from the Gerding, Korte and Chitwood public accounting firm based out of Columbia for a fee of $17,000.

Northern District Com-missioner Norvelle Brown said he planned to meet later Tuesday with members of the Slater Chamber of Commerce for a informative luncheon, while Presiding Commissioner Becky Plattner said the commission met Monday with a representative of the Department of Conservation in hopes of improving the landscaping at the county's criminal justice center.

Plattner also said the commission will make a decision this week on which health insurance provider it will choose to cover the county's 83 employees.
