Connie L. Bonifacio, 70, of Independence, formerly of Slater, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, at First Baptist Church in Independence. Tom Clifton will officiate. Organist Ann Dillon will accompany Rev. Phil Crosby as he sings "Amazing Grace." Pallbearers will be Beno Messer, Halen Smith, Britt Smith, Landon Collis, Brandon Nichols and Joe Carney. Burial with graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Slater City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born April 4, 1934, in Los Angeles, Calif., she was the daughter of the late Anna Gratensky. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Independence and had retired from the Higginsville Habilitation Center after 25 years of service. She had lived in Independence for the past 20 years, moving from Higginsville.
Survivors include one son, Hal W. Smith Jr. of Slater; two daughters, Linda Ann Hager of Independence and Anna Maria Smith of San Diego, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Trey, Angelique, Jake, Lacey Ann, Halen, Kindal and Britt; and one great-grandson, Jonathan.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by one son, Rocky Smith; and one daughter, Nancy Gail Smith.
