Slater man wins $5,000 in Powerball

Tuesday, March 22, 2005

A Slater man said he plans to pay taxes with the $5,000 he won Saturday, March 19, playing the Missouri Lottery's Powerball game. William Erickson, 65, said winning the prize came at a good time of year for him and his wife, Carolyn, with taxes due in a few weeks.

Erickson bought his winning ticket at the Break Time convenience store on Highway 240 in Slater on March 19, when he stopped by the business to buy gas.

Erickson, a retired teacher, used Quick Pick to select his winning numbers.
