Lee A. Thorp, 82, of Marshall, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at Mar-Saline Manor in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. William W. Harlow will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Nelson Cemetery in Nelson. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Born Nov. 1, 1922, in Nelson, he was the son of the late Jack Dewey Thorp and Mayme Lawson Thorp. On July 18, 1942, he married Amy Lawson, who preceded him in death April 7, 2002. He had lived in Saline County most of his life and was retired from the railroad after 35 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 191 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2646 in Marshall. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Marshall.
Survivors include two sons, Alan E. Thorp of Phoenix, Ariz., and Larry W. Thorp of Portsmouth, N.H.; one brother, John Thorp of St. Joseph; one sister, Evelyn Smith of Kansas City; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
