Earl VanBuskirk, 96, of Marshall, died Friday, March 4, 2005, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Rev. Doug Franklin will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to Smith Chapel United Methodist Church.
Born Sept. 9, 1908, in Cretcher, he was the son of the late Charles O. VanBuskirk and Maude Avis Sherman VanBuskirk. On June 6, 1934, in Lexington, he married Ruby Cole, who preceded him in death Sept. 18, 2004. He had lived in Saline County his entire life and was a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church. He worked at International Shoe Company for 49 years and was a farmer.
Survivors include one son, James Finley of Osceola; two daughters, Thomazene "Tommy" Riley of Marshall and Eugenia Ross of Laurie; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Austin VanBuskirk and Oakley VanBuskirk; and one sister, Betty Cartee.
