Lee Allen Sheffer, Sr., 95, of Marshall, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Mar-Saline Manor in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2005, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. William W. Harlow will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial with graveside military rites will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Born June 23, 1909, in Dongola, Ill., he was the son of the late Frank Sheffer and Sarah Poole Sheffer. In September 1931, he married Frances Elizabeth Ballew, who survives. He had lived in Marshall most of his life and was a grain elevator operator for 33 years. He was a member of Blue Lick Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, receiving two Bronze Stars, and was a member of American Legion Post 191 in Marshall.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Juanita Riley and husband James of Marshall; two sons, James Sheffer and wife Judy of Marshall and Lee Allen Sheffer Jr. and wife Linda of Marshall; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Edward A. Sheffer and Robert L. Sheffer; three brothers and three sisters.
