Buddy Eugene "Bud" Hoyes, 76, of Higginsville, formerly of Marshall, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 4, at Hoefer Chapel in Higginsville. Pastor Mark Gooden will officiate. Burial will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Higginsville ambulance fund.
Born Feb. 20, 1929, in Columbia, he was the son of the late Russell Hoyes and Irmyl Latham Hoyes. On May 28, 1958, in Miami, Okla., he married Ruth Ann Hardin, who preceded him in death April 20, 2000. Before his retirement, he worked as a salesperson at Bernard Lumber Company in Higginsville and Higginsville True Value. He had lived in Higginsville since 1961, moving from Marshall. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict, serving as master sergeant. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves until 1963. He was a member of Slater Baptist Church.
Survivors include three nephews, Bruce Hoyes of Sweet Springs, David Hoyes of Sweet Springs and Scott Hoyes of Longmont, Colo.; and three nieces, Chari Gooden of Marshall, Karen Norris of Wood Heights and Debby Hinnah of Slater.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence H. Hoyes.
