Tom Fisher Jr., 85, of Miami, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at Mar-Saline Manor in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Miami Baptist Church or Miami Cemetery.
Born Dec. 11, 1919, in Slater, he was the son of the late Tom P. Fisher and Mary Elizabeth Fowler Fisher. On Oct. 30, 1943, he married Mildred P. LeMaster, who survives. He was raised in Miami and returned there in 1985. He was a graduate of Miami High School and the American Aeronautical Institute in Kansas City. He worked for Beech Aircraft for 43 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2646 in Marshall and the International Machinist Union. He was a member of Miami Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Mary Devriese and husband Allan of Kansas City, Kan.; two sisters, Elizabeth Lemmon of Miami and Mable Steward of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; one brother, James Fisher of Raytown; five grandchildren, Brett and Shawn Thistlethwaite, Julia Beets, Amanda Devriese and Elizabeth Davis; two great-granddaughters, Haley and Caitlin; and several nieces and nephews.
