PARKVILLE -- The third-ranked Missouri Valley College men's volleyball team again struggled with its hitting and serves Saturday during a 3-2 loss at MAMVIC rival Park.

Although the Vikings took a 2-1 lead in games, it couldn't put away the host squad during a 26-30, 30-27, 21-30, 30-25, 15-9 loss. Valley's hitting efficiency was a mere .193 and it committed 13 service errors, with only seven aces.

Junior Walker Swan and sophomore Cristian Maciel each recorded 18 kills for the No. 4 Pirates (10-1, 4-1 MAMVIC). Junior David Hoke and freshman Adam Tuifagu led the Vikings with 14 spikes apiece -- with freshman Leandro Justen adding 11 kills, 14 digs and three aces.

Valley came back in the nightcap for a non-conference romp over St. Ambrose (Iowa), stinging the Bees (6-11) 30-24, 30-13, 30-24.

The Vikings nearly emptied the bench during the contest. Freshman Nikola Simanic racked up nine attacks, Justen put seven shots down and freshman Nebojsa Janovic came up with 13 saves. Valley, though, still had trouble with serves -- logging 11 faults.

The Vikings (12-3, 5-3) will be back home Wednesday for a league showdown with Peru State.
