Martha M. Breshears, 86, of Marshall, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home in Marshall. William W. Harlow will officiate. Organist Ramona Bullington will accompany Leona Raines, who will sing "Amazing Grace," "One Day at a Time" and "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder." Pallbearers will be Chad Breshears, Nathan Breshears, Scott Breshears, Steven Hemme, Sheila Lunsford and Terri Martin. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery near Marshall. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the family in the care of Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home.
Born Feb. 13, 1919, in Saline County, she was the daughter of the late Dave and Alta Moore Shields. On Aug. 3, 1935, in Marshall, she married Elmer Marvin Breshears, who preceded her in death June 21, 1992. She had lived in Saline and Cooper counties most of her life. She had been employed at Kraft Food, ConAgra and the Marshall Habilitation Center for 19 years before her retirement.
Survivors include four sons, Charles Breshears of Marshall, Russell Breshears of Nelson, Francis Breshears of Urbana and Kevin Breshears of Sedalia; five daughters, Shirley Breshears of Marshall, Marvina Green of Blackwater, Karen Darling and Reta Allison, both of Marshall, and Cheryl White of Hannibal; 40 grandchildren; many great- and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sons, three half-brothers and three grandchildren.
