Martha L. Emmerson, 93, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Marshall, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home in Marshall. Rev. Rich Shugert will officiate. Organist Ramona Bullington will play "How Great Thou Art" and "In the Garden." Pallbearers will be Robert E. Alfrey, Robert J. Alfrey, Jeff Alfrey, Tom Alfrey and Terry Townsend. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall.
Born Dec. 16, 1911, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late George C. Emmerson and Minnie Loch Emmerson. She was a 1929 graduate of Marshall High School and a 1934 graduate of Missouri Valley College. She worked for the Defense Department from 1942 to 1963 and lived in the Washington, D.C., area for many years. She moved to St. Petersburg, Fla., in 1977.
Survivors include one brother, Charles W. Emmerson of Marshall; two sisters, Helen E. Alfrey of Marshall and Grace Johnson of Springfield; four nephews; one niece; and many greatnieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, George Emmerson, John W. Emmerson and Harold L. Emmerson.
