Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lexington. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home in Lexington. Rosary service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Dover. Memorials are suggested to St. John's Cemetery in Dover or the Lafayette County Health Department.
Born June 6, 1908 in Koeltztown, she was the daughter of the late C. F. & Catherine Winkelman Melies. On Feb. 12, 1934, in Shackelford, she married Cletus W. Boland, who preceded her in death. She was a 1927 graduate of Mercy Academy in Marshall. She was a homemaker and quilter and had resided on a farm south of Waverly most of her married life. She was a former member of St. John's Catholic Church and its Altar Society in Dover and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Altar Society in Carrollton.
Survivors include four sons, Denis Boland and wife Elsie of Waverly, Linus Boland and wife Sally of Waverly, Michael Boland and wife Carolyn of Waverly and John Boland and wife Shirley of Corder; three daughters, Mary Kipping and husband Arthur of Carrollton, Joan Clouse and husband Wayne of Marshall and Helen Pigg and husband Robert of Richmond; one sister, Marie Mertensmeyer; two sisters-in-law, Corinne Wansing and Marie Carter; 28 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Norbert Melies, Robert Melies, Joe Melies and Alfred Melies; one sister, Agnes Weaver; one granddaughter-in-law, Julie Boland; one great-granddaughter, Jessica Boland.
