Delbert C. Haynes, 74, of Slater, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Cremation. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Rev. Pam Sebastian will officiate. Burial will be in Greenton Cemetery in Odessa. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
Born Oct. 15, 1930, in Gasland, he was the son of the late Alvy R. and Nellie Shawn Haynes. On Aug. 12, 1950, in Harrison, Ark., he married Jo Anne Barker, who survives of the home. He worked at Town and Country Shoe Co. in Slater for a number of years and retired from the city of Slater, where he worked on the street department and as cemetery sexton.
Additional survivors include one son, Calvin "Sonny" Haynes of Gilliam; one daughter, Debbie Sickman of Slater; one brother, Kenneth L. Barker of Denver, Colo.; one sister, Delpha Hobbs of Parkville; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant son, two brothers and one sister.
