Frank L. Cohalla, 86, of Warsaw, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Warsaw. Father Richard Colbert will officiate. Pallbearers will be Drew Cohalla, Dana Scott Hayes, Kristopher Hayes, John Roberts, Douglas Hackney and David Bartel. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with a rosary recited at 10:40 a.m. Burial will be in Shawnee Cemetery in Warsaw. Arrangements are under the direction of Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw.
Born Feb. 13, 1918, in the country of Spain, he was the son of the late Rapheal and Josefa Busto de Alverez Cohalla. On Feb. 20, 1944, he married Hellene Pummill, who preceded him in death May 2, 1984. In August 1986, in Warsaw, he married Roberta Hackney, who survives of the home. At age 10, he moved to the United States, making his home in Tampa, Fla. He also resided in Sedalia and Kansas City before moving to Warsaw. He was a U.S. Army-Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, the Jay Harris Knights of Columbus in Warsaw, and the Carpenter's Local No. 61 of Kansas City.
Additional survivors include one son, Frank J. Cohalla of Kansas City; one daughter, Zonya Hayes of Kearney; two stepsons, Douglas Hackney of North Kansas City and Dennis Hackney of the state of Mississippi; one stepdaughter, Darla Hines of Drexel; one brother, Rapheal Cohalla of Tampa, Fla.; three sisters, Pilar Cohalla of Tampa, Bertha Holt of Tampa and Josephine Bartel of Nelson; five grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
