Robert E. Castle, 80, of rural Marshall, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 24, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall. Father Kevin Gormley will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall, with a prayer service at 6 p.m. Burial with graveside military rites will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic Church Building Fund or Fitzgibbon-Mary Memorial Hospice.
Born April 17, 1924, in Shackelford, he was the son of the late Charles T. Castle and Gladys Staub Castle Bryan. On Oct. 12, 1947, he married Wilma J. Dennis, who survives of the home. He had lived in the Shackelford community his entire life and was a farmer. He attended Montana State College in Bozeman, Mont. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 191 in Marshall and the 70th Infantry Division Association. He helped organize and served on Saline County Water District No. 1.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Sharon Kaye Barlow of Kansas City and Rebecca S. Cramer and husband David of Marshall; one son, Robert D. Castle and wife Janell of Shackelford; four grandchildren, Heather Carson, Dr. Justin Cramer, Sara Castle and Michael Castle; and four great-grandchildren, Kody Kalb, Kristopher Carson, Clayton Carson and Hannah Carson.
