John F. Proctor, 82, of Marshall, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at Mar-Saline Manor in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Rev. Steve Raglin will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial with graveside military rites will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church in Marshall.
Born March 23, 1922, in Amazonia, he was the son of the late Calvin Newton Proctor and Grace Gertrude Taylor Proctor. On April 6, 1945, he married Lola Davis, who survives of the home. He returned to Marshall in the early 1970s and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Marshall. He worked for Swift and Company in St. Joseph for 21 years and retired from the Marshall Habilitation Center in 1986. After his retirement, he worked for Hardees for several years. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran, a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in St. Joseph and a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Phyllis Griggs of Marshall; three sons, David Proctor of Marshall, Kevin R. Proctor of Poplar Bluff and John W. Proctor of Marshall; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.
