Shirley M. McKenzie Bynum, 67, of Marshall, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Marshall. Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, at H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Marshall and from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Marshall.
Born March 6, 1937, in Sweet Springs, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Gertrude Williams McKenzie. On May 16, 1965, she married William Eugene Bynum, who preceded her in death Sept. 15, 1978. She attended Lincoln Grade School and Lincoln Junior High School. She worked for F.M. Stampers for many years, and retired from the Marshall Habilitation Center after 11 years of service. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and the gospel singing group the Gospel Hands.
Survivors include two sons, Nolan McKenzie of Louisville, Ky., and Wesley R. Stewart of the home; three daughters, Consuelo Stewart of Shelby, N.C., Deborah Stewart Williams of Columbia and Kiara Bynum of the home; one brother, Charles R. McKenzie of Marshall; one sister, Eva Workcuff of Marshall; and four grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
