Dr. Earl C. Macey was born in Richmond on March 10, 1909, the youngest of nine brothers and sisters. He passed away on Dec. 1, 2004, at Palm Gardens Nursing Home in Gainesville, Fla.
Earl attended Central Methodist College in Fayette and graduated from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. He went to Marshall on Aug. 10, 1933, where he practiced medicine for 56 years, retiring at the age of 80. He and his wife, Dorothy B. Gstrein Macey, moved to Gainesville in 1990. Dorothy preceded him in death in 2002.
Surviving family members are: children, E. Christopher Macey of Alexandria, Va., Martha Macey Simpson and husband Ken of Gainesville; three granddaughters, Christy Simpson Herringshaw and husband George of Lakeland, Fla., Lisa Simpson Birket and husband Jason of Lakeland, and Debbie Simpson Ryan and husband Matt of Indianapolis, Ind.; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at Forest Meadows Mausoleum Chapel, 4100 NW 39th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32606.
