Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, at Higginsville First Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at the church. Burial will be in Higginsville City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Mary G. Carl Memorial Fund in care of Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home in Lexinton.
Born Aug. 1, 1923, in Thrapston, United Kingdom, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Gertrude Bamford Groom. On Oct. 28, 1955, in Thrapston, she married Joseph L. Carl, who survives of the home. She was a World War II veteran of the Royal Air Force, where she served as a vehicle driver. She was an international telephone operator after the service. She worked as a sales clerk and was a member of First Baptist Church in Higginsville. She sold Avon for many years and was a member of Avon's President's Club. She was active in Girls in Action, Outlook Club, WDT Club and a 4-H club leader.
Additional survivors include one son, David Carl of Odessa; two daughters, Beverly Klingenberg of Nelson and Carrol Luttrell of Springfield; two brothers, Charles Groom of Anstrutler Fife, Scotland, and Donald Groom of Clophill, Bedfordshire, United Kingdom; one sister, Millie Linedam of Geddington, Kettering, Northants, United Kingdom; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son; one daughter; three brothers and six sisters.
