Eugenia Kelly "Gene" Gabb, 86, of Marshall, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at First Christian Church in Marshall. Rev. Mike Brown will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Memorials are suggested to Marshall Public School Defibrillator Fund.
Born July 7,1918, in Jacksonville, Ill., she was the daughter of the late William Albert Vaughn and Mayme Eugenia Kelly Vaughn. On May 9, 1942, in Independence, she married James Martin Gabb, who preceded her in death April 28, 2003. She had lived in Marshall since 1975, moving from Slater, and was a retired beautician. She was a member of First Christian Church and its New Century Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Monday Club, Fitzgibbon Hospital Auxiliary and Friends of Arrow Rock and a past member of the Vivian Leslie Study Club.
Survivors include one son, Rev. James N. Gabb and wife Betsy of Omaha, Neb.; two daughters, Jayme Ann Smith and husband Bill of Friendswood, Texas, and Gina Sandwith and husband Tom of Marshall; six grandchildren, Jeff Harris, Carmen Harris Helm, Brian Gabb, Michael Gabb, Kristin Sandwith and Lauren Sandwith; two great-grandchildren, Emily Helm and Dylan Helm; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, William Neil Vaughn; and one sister, Geraldine Hisle.
