Carl Edward Thorp, 54, of rural Marshall, died Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Argel Gross will offiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial with graveside military rites will be in Nelson Cemetery in Nelson. Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Association.
Born Oct. 31, 1950, in Boonville, he was the son of the late Jack Dewey Thorp and Mayme Lawson Thorp. On Aug. 8, 1998, he married Christine Bradley, who survives of the home. He had lived in Marshall most of his life and was a correctional officer II at Boonville Correctional Center in Boonville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Additional survivors include two brothers, Lee Thorp of Marshall and John Thorp of St. Joseph; one sister, Evelyn Smith of Kansas City; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
