Sister Leola Bolzenius, ASC, 86, of Ruma, Ill., died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, in Ruma.
Mass of Christian burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, in Ruma Center Chapel. Rev. Dennis Schaefer officiated with reflections by Sister Kate Reid, ASC. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the ASC Retirement Fund, ASC Financial Office, 6 Eagle Center, Suite 4, O'Fallon, IL 62269.
Born March 17, 1918, in Neier, she was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Bollman. She made her first vows as Adorer of the Blood of Christ on July 2, 1936, and perpetual profession on July 1, 1941. She was an upper-grade teacher and principal in schools in Bartelson, Ill., from 1943 to 1949, in Taylorville, Ill., from 1951 to 1957, in Dupo, Ill., from 1958 to 1961, and in Chester, Ill., from 1968 to 1975, among others. She cared for her elderly parents from 1975 to 1978 in Neier. From 1978 to 1991, she worked as treasurer and assistant administrator at De Mattias Hall on the campus of St. Louis University.
Survivors include one sister, Sister Mary Bede Bolzenius, ASC; two sister-in-laws, Janet Bolzenius of Marshall and Dorothy Bolzenius of Washington; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert Bolzenius and Ralph Bolzenius; and one sister, Sister Georgiana, ASC.
