Darlene Smith, 69, of Waverly, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at Waverly Cemetery in Waverly. Pastor Mike Walker officiated. Pallbearers were Scott Eugene Hamblen, Heath Kirchhoff, Nathan Wilson, Jamie Narron, Joey Narron and Rick Bristow. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Born July 8, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Romey Emmett Smith and Cora Bell Hostetter Smith. She was married to William Milton Smith, who preceded her in death June 26, 1983. She had lived in Waverly her entire life and was a Baptist. She had been a custodian at Kelling Hospital and also worked in the laundry department. She had worked at Buck's Market and was a homemaker.
Survivors include four daughters, Kathy Hamblen of Waverly, Reeda Ballenger of Lexington, JoAn Smith of Waverly and Eva Womack of Waverly; one stepdaughter, Joyce Ann Brown of Marshall; one brother, Billy Donald Smith of Carrollton; three sisters, Alice Warner of Carrollton, Classie Warner of Bosworth and Shirley Smith of Grand Pass; 13 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one stepson, one stepgrandson, four sisters and one brother.
