William "Bill" Haydu, 80, of Marshall, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Graveside services with military rites will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Ken Randolph will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall.
Born Aug. 17, 1924, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Joseph Haydu and Bertha Olah Haydu. On Sept. 27, 1947, he married Goldie Putnoky, who preceded him in death Jan. 25, 1990. He had lived in Marshall since 1976, living in the state of California from 1964 to 1976, and in the state of Ohio from 1924 to 1964. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2646 in Marshall. He was a Mason, a Shriner and a member of the Scottish Rite.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Cather of Grafton, Ohio, and Sherry Connett of Marshall; two sisters, Yolanda Varga of North Royalton, Ohio and Bertha DeSantis of Berea, Ohio; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
