Ella Katheryn Mitchell, 87, of Marshall, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall. Fr. Kevin Gormley will officiate. Prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount St. Mary's Cemetery in Shackelford. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic Church Building Fund or Hazel Grove Cemetery Association.
Born Dec. 17, 1916, in Herndon, she was the daughter of the late William Roy Sims and Clara Bess Thomas Sims. In 1939 she married Rupert Joseph "Knute" Mitchell, who preceded her in death March 29, 1946. She had lived near Marshall Junction and in Marshall the last 32 years and retired from International Shoe Company with over 30 years of service. She was a 1934 graduate of Marshall High School. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of Marshall Junction Extension/Friendship Club, The Birthday Club and was a 4H leader.
Survivors include one son, Joseph Robert Mitchell and wife Vicki of Marshall; one daughter, Jean Mitchell Ruhl and husband David Michael of Kansas City; one brother, J.M. Sims and wife Francis Jean of Marshall; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles Harrison Mitchell; one brother, William Archie Sims; one granddaughter, Sara Ruhl Ricci; and one great-grandson, A.J. Allegri.
