Benjamin Frank Reed, 8-month-old son of Brad Reed and Gina Mitchell Reed of Marshall, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, at the home of his grandparents, surrounded by his family after a six-month battle with a brain tumor.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Southside Assembly of God in Marshall. Rev. Cliff Cato will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at Mitchell Campground and Cemetery in Bolivar. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital, Target House Charities, Ronald McDonald House or Candlelighters in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Benjamin was born Jan. 28, 2004, in Marshall, and lived in Marshall. During his six-month battle, Benjamin spent the majority of the last three months at St. Jude's Cancer Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., where he received the greatest care. Thanks to Christian Health Care Hospice, Benjamin was able to spend his final days with his family in Bolivar.
Additional survivors include his maternal grandparents, Terry and Becky Mitchell of Bolivar; paternal grandparents, Frank and Sharon Reed of Bolivar; paternal great-grandparents, Bobby and Cornelia Reed of Sikeston; paternal great-great-grandmother, Inez Reed of Harrisburg, Ark.; and two uncles, Derek Mitchell and Ryan Reed.
He was preceded in death by one uncle, Bobby Frank Reed III; maternal great-grandparents, Edward and Mary Elizabeth Queen; paternal great-grandparents, Clarence and Louella Courtois; and maternal great-grandparents, Albert and Emma Gene Mitchell.
