Charles J. Leathers, 74, of Salem, formerly of Marshall, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at Salem Memorial Hospital in Salem.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at First Assembly of God in Malden. Rev. Dale Shoup officiated. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.
Born Dec. 11,1929, in Malden, he was the son of the late Charlie Leathers and Minnie Border Leathers. On Feb. 4, 1947, in Piggott, Ark., he married Betty Jo Belt, who survives of the home. He was a retired minister, having served as pastor for the Assemblies of God in Qulin, Campbell, Bismark and Marshall. He held a doctorate degree in divinity. He attended Living Water Worship Center in Rolla.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Janice Mahurin of Salem; four sons, Jackie Dale Leathers of Iron Mountain, Rodney Charles Leathers of Boone, Iowa, Mark Shawn Leathers of Rolla, and Timothy Don Leathers of Wilton, Iowa; one sister, Imogene Stewart of Collerville, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson; three brothers, Russell Leathers, Roy Leathers and James Leathers; and one sister, Myree Snyder.
