John Wilbur Miller, 83, of Slater, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Rev. Pam Sebastian and Rev. Robert Sisney will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial with graveside military rites will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice or the American Heart Association.

Born Nov. 22, 1920, in Saline County, he was the son of the late John William Miller and Jean Miller. On June 6, 1948, he married Dorothy Virginia Stout, who survives of the home. He had lived in Saline County his entire life and was a retired carpenter. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post No. 78 in Slater.

Additional survivors include one son, John F. Miller of Eagleville; one daughter, Beverly Jean Thomas of Deepwater; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
