William Ben O'Dowd, 70, of Independence, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at John Knox Village in Lee's Summit.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Chuck Hallin will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 until 2 p.m. Thursday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to John Knox Village Hospice.
Born March 29, 1934, in Marshall, he was the son of the late James Martin O'Dowd and Eula Irene Newton O'Dowd. On Dec. 24, 1980, he married Edna Marie "Donna" Chrisman, who survives of the home. He had lived in Independence for the last several years and was a salesman with Taylor Homes in Anderson. He was a graduate of East High School in Kansas City.
Additional survivors include one son, Mark O'Dowd of Independence; three daughters, Vicki Zarrillo of Independence, Michelle Alford of Warsaw, and Tammy O'Dowd of Independence; one sister, Vernice Hinton of Lone Jack; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert O'Dowd.
