Della M. "Tilly" Speck, 76, of Sweet Springs, formerly of Sumner, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at Sumner United Methodist Church in Sumner. Rev. Gail Brown and Rev. Joanne Davis will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Friends may call from 1 until 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Sumner. Memorials are suggested to Sumner United Methodist Church or American Heart Association.
Born March 13, 1928, in Sumner, she was the daughter of the late Ernest L. and Bessie L. Johnson. On Aug. 21, 1959, in Chillicothe, she married Walter P. Speck, who preceded her in death March 25, 2000. She was a member of the Sumner United Methodist Church. She had lived in Sweet Springs for the past two and a half years, moving from Sumner, and living previously in Kansas City and Bucklin. She was owner and operator of Tilly's Beauty Shop in Sumner.
Survivors include one sister, Martha Casey of Clearwater, Fla.; three brothers, Glenn K. Johnson of Meadville, Marvin H. "Frog" Johnson of Stover, and Ernest D. "Ernie" Johnson of Sweet Springs; two granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Dale Winters.
