Smithton slips past Sweet Springs

SMITHTON -- Senior Leslie Keesaer had four kills, 12 digs and five aces, but the Sweet Springs volleyball team couldn't hold the lead during a 17-25, 25-18, 25-16 non-conference loss Monday at Smithton (3-5).

The Lady Greyhounds had one of their most solid all-around performances of the season, tallying 12 attacks, 43 digs, eight blocks and 11 aces -- including four by sophomore Kara Kreisel, who also added four assists. Sophomore Jenna Perkins came up with seven saves and junior Toni Young and senior Valerie Wulff split nine digs.

Every player in the lineup made a successful set for Sweet Springs (1-3), which plays at Norborne today.
