Edna W. Burks, 94, of Saline City, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Saline City. Rev. Mark Hass will officiate. Gladys Gessling, organist, will accompany Judi Hodges as she sings "The Old Rugged Cross." She will accompany the congregation in singing "I Know My Redeemer Lives." Pallbearers will be Edward William Burks, Michael Brame Burks, Thomas Michael Hinken, Matthew Wayne Burks, Ted L. Henrichs and Eric Michael Burks. Visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to the church or to Big Bend Retreat in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born Sept. 28, 1909, in Saline County, she was the daughter of the late Edward P. and Emma Bender Leimkuehler. On June 6, 1932, in Linn, she married Luther A. Burks, who preceded her in death March 14, 1962. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Saline City, and retired from ConAgra Frozen Foods in Marshall in 1975.
Survivors include one son, Francis Burks of Saline City; four brothers, Edward Leimkuehler of Independence, Irvin Leimkuehler of Harrisonville, Leroy Leimkuehler of Blue Springs and Eugene Leimkuehler of Marshall; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Floyd Burks; two brothers and two sisters.
