Born in Slater, he was the son of John and Nannie Mae Logan Miller. He graduated from Slater High School and also reveived an associate degree in applied sciece from the Maplewood Community College in Kansas City, and a bachelor of science degree in electronic engineering technology from Missouri Western State College. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Slater.
Survivors include a longtime friend, Mark Thurman of Kansas City; three brothers, Raymond Hockaday of Kansas City, Norman Miller and Linda Brown of Marshall, and Larry Miller and wife Maureen of Columbia; two sisters, Barbara Hill of Slater and Catherine Moore and husband Sam of Slater; three uncles, Sam Logan, Jesse Logan and Oscar Logan; one aunt, Victoria Tumey; eight nephews, three nieces, four greatnephews, two greatnieces, a host of cousins and friends, and his extended family, Rev. and Mrs. Wallace Thurman of Higginsville and Donnie and Lessie Calvert of Slater.
