Nellie M. Gieseke, 97, of Concordia, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at the Lutheran Good Shepherd Home in Concordia.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Concordia. Pastor R. Lee Hagan will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Lutheran Good Shepherd Home or the charity of the donor's choice.
Born Aug. 23, 1907 in rural Alma, she was the daughter of the late John W. Summers and Lillie M. Strader Summers. On April 30, 1931, she married Omar Gieseke, who preceded her in death Jan. 23, 1991. She attended Elk Grove Elementary School and graduated from Concordia High School. She had lived in rural areas near Concordia, Blackburn and Grand Pass and was a farm wife and homemaker. Since 1981 she had lived in Concordia. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Concordia.
Survivors include one son, Donald Gieseke and wife Janet of rural Carrollton; three grandchildren, Myra Ziegler and husband David of Marietta, Ga., Eric Gieseke and wife Denise of Lincoln, Mass., and Lisa Watkinson of Columbia; four great-grandchildren, Kevin Ziegler, Amanda Ziegler, Katherine Gieseke and Kyle Watkinson; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Barbara Gieseke; three sisters and three brothers.
