Mae Johnson, 84, of Concordia, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at Monterey Park Nursing Center in Independence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, at Concordia Baptist Church in Concordia. Rev. Jim Short will officiate. Pallbearers will be Scott A. Bodenstab, Todd A. Bodenstab, Barry W. Bodenstab, David W. Johnson, Matthew E. Johnson, Marc W. Johnson, Jay M. Johnson and Tyler J. Johnson. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Concordia Baptist Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Concordia Baptist Church or Crossroads Hospice.
Born May 2, 1920, in Cylinder, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Roy M. Smith and Oma E. Sharp. On June 11, 1938, in Willow Springs, she married David J. Johnson, who preceded her in death Oct. 19, 2000. She had lived in Concordia most of her life, where she was a member of Concordia Baptist Church. She had worked at Central Drug Store for 25 years and at McDonald's, both in Concordia, for 10 years and was a homemaker.
Survivors include one daughter, Darline Bodenstab of Independence; four sons, David L. Johnson of Turney, Dannie E. Johnson of Marshall, Rick Johnson of Warrensburg and Donald M. Johnson of Concordia; 14 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna J. Johnson, and one sister, Clara Dotson.
