A Blackburn teen suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash Sunday in rural Saline County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol's preliminary crash report, the incident took place at 2:30 p.m. on County Road 401 south of County Road 432.

The MSHP report states 18-year-old Kellen J. Brandt was driving south in a 1996 Dodge, when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road. The Dodge then traveled into a large drainage ditch, where it struck a metal culvert.

Authorities investigating the crash were unable to determine if Brandt was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He was transported to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall for treatment.

The officers issued Brandt a summons for careless and imprudent driving.
