Geneva Fern Thompson, 91, of Marshall, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at her daughter's home in DeWitt.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, at Gibson Funeral Home in Brunswick. Tom Wyatt will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in DeWitt. Memorials are suggested to the charity of choice.
Born June 19, 1913, in Amity, she was the daughter of the late Bert Sylvester and Naomi Stella Hale Searcy. On October 26, 1941, in Keytesville, she married Nathan Van Buren Thompson, who preceded her in death July 21, 1983. She had lived in Brunswick until moving to Marshall 14 years ago. She was a 1933 graduate of Amity High School and a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. She had worked for Linda's Cafe, Mosers Coffee Shop, James Pecans and Harvey Beall Pecans in Brunswick, Banquet Foods in Marshall, and she later volunteered at Head Start in Brunswick and Marshall.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Lybarger of DeWitt; one son, Jon A. Skaug of San Ramon, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers.
