Lucile Fern Trent, 87, of Waverly, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at Mar-Saline Manor Care Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at the United Methodist Church in Waverly. Rev. George B. Gordon and Rev. Bob Payne will officiate. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Dover Cemetery in Dover. Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church of Waverly in care of Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton.
Born June 1, 1917, in Waverly, she was the daughter of the late William and Anna Moore Neer. On Nov. 13, 1937, in Waverly, she married Stewart Ryland Trent, who preceded her in death May 13, 2003. She attended school in Grand Pass and graduated from Waverly High School. She was a housewife and mother and had worked as a librarian at the Waverly Library. She was a member of the Waverly United Methodist Church. She was a founding member of the Hazel Hill Extension Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Appleberry of Louisville, Ky.; one son, William Stewart "Bill" Trent of Marshall; one sister, Dorothy Jean Grove of Waverly; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, William Neer.
