Adolph J. "Kuno" Kunz, 87, of Slater, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, at his home near Laurie.
Graveside military services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at Gilliam Cemetery. Rev. Tommy R. Barrett will officiate. Pallbearers will be Charlie Guthrie, Jim Dobbins, Kim Taylor, Austin Owens, Jerry Richardson and Wayne Hendricks. Honorary pallbearers will be Wally George, Clifton Reynolds, Richard Hupp, Tom Papreck, M.D., Willie Bryson and Charles Hannaford. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Memorials are suggested to American Legion Post No. 78 in Slater.
Born Nov. 9, 1916, in Etlah, he was the son of the late Kuno Adolph and Rosa Giger Kunz. On Sept. 6, 1947, he married Alberta J. Wolters, who preceded him in death Jan. 26, 1979. He was a U.S. Army-Air Corp veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post No. 78 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4367, both in Slater. He worked for Hughes Aircraft in Tuscon, Ariz., and later owned and operated a package shop in Slater before his retirement.
Survivors include two sisters, Lillian Sailor of Slater and Doris Stimson of Santa Clara, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
