Dorothy Nell Bales, 88, of Marshall, died Thursday, July 15, 2004, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 18, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Robert Zagrebelny will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 17, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Born May 12, 1916, in Saline County, she was the daughter of the late Percy E. Land and Audria Hinton Land. On Sept. 19, 1942, in Marshall, she married Rufus O. Bales, who preceded her in death May 19, 1991. She had lived in Saline County most of her life. She had worked at ConAgra in Marshall and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Marshall congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Survivors include two sons, Mitchell Bales and wife Carolyn of Marshall and Perry Bales and wife Bessie of Sweet Springs; three daughters, Doreen Naffziger of Greenwood, Ark., Sharman Sloan and husband David of Excelsior Springs and Roma Zagrabelny and husband Robert of Tulsa, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Land and Edwin "Bob" Land; and one son-in-law, Ronal Naffziger.
