Leroy Martin Blacketer, 63, of Glasgow, died Monday, July 5, 2004, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 9, at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow. Rev. Tom Rowland will officiate. Music will be provided by Sondra Enyard and Derek Enyard, who will sing several songs. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 8, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Ernie Boggs II, Andy Boggs, Daryl Hubbard, George Beeler, William Given and Rodney Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Endsley, Larry Griffin and Myrl Messer. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Ronald McDonald House in care of the funeral home.
Born March 26, 1941, in Glasgow, he was the son of the late Vern Lyle Blacketer and Hazel Miller Blacketer. On June 11, 1983, he married Mary Cleeton, who survives. He was a heavy equipment operator for a coal mine. He was a member of Glasgow First Baptist Church, Garden Tractor Pullers Association of Missouri and Classic Car Club of Marshall and a former active member of Glasgow P.T.O.
Survivors include five daughters, Renna Boggs of Higbee, Janet Abbott of Moline, Ill., Rhonda Hendricks of Whitefish, Mont., Ruthie Anders of Higbee and Rebecca Blacketer of Glasgow; one son, William Given of Glasgow; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Marcia Blacketer.
