Oletha Giger, 79, of Monroe, N.C., formerly of Slater, died Monday, June 28, 2004, at her home.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 2, at Slater City Cemetery. Debbie Roath will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Memorials are suggested to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
Born Dec. 14, 1924, in Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Eula Marshall Skidmore. On June 20, 1948, in Odessa, she married John "Fritz" Giger Jr., who preceded her in death Jan. 29, 1992. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Monroe and the Naomi Sunday School class. She was a graduate of Missouri Valley College in Marshall and taught elementary grades in Missouri schools for 24 years until her retirement. She was a member of the General Foundation of Women's Clubs and the American Association of University Women.
Survivors include one daughter, Connie Giger Nazaruk of Monroe; one brother, Emory H. Skidmore of Morton, Ill.; one grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
